Biko is an adaptive, high-energy individual who leads and participates in both the transactional work and the management of the Firm. As the Senior Partner, he is in charge of Finance and Strategy.
As a transactional lawyer, he heads the Real Estate, Corporate & Commercial Departments of the Firm. He has a wealth of experience in commercial transactions including legal audit and regulatory advisory, governance audit and project finance. He is a Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public and Patent Agent.
He has a wealth of experience in structuring mixed use real estate developments, advising on land use planning, handling project financing transactions, structuring shared ownership facilities and preparation and negotiation of project contracts including joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, partnership deeds and master declarations of easements covenants and restrictions.
Biko has advised several leading banks and financial institutions on structuring of financial products, syndicated facilities, corporate finance transactions, mortgage finance transactions and asset finance transactions.
- Acted as the Legal Counsel for a real estate developer in Nairobi, constructing Thirty-One (31) Units, handling the drafting and registration of Leases for unit owners. Further, the scope of work entailed a Change of User of the project land from agricultural to multi-residential. As the project was financed to the tune of One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars (USD 1,200,000),
- Structuring and creating various securities to secure borrowings by one of the largest millers in Kenya amounting to Kenya Shillings Three Billion to finance the company’s expansion and working capital.
- Acting as the Legal Counsel for a Developer in a unique residential development with over Five Hundred (500) units, handling the drafting of agreements for Sale and subsequent registration of Leases for the unit owners.
- Acting for various companies in the re-structuring of ownership including the transfer and acquisition of shares, introduction and implementation of corporate governance within the companies’ governance structures.
- Acting as the Legal Counsel for an ultra-modern Business Park situated in Karen, Nairobi handling the drafting of Agreements for Sale, change of use and amalgamation of the Two (2) Titles to the Land on which the park is developed.
- Undertaking a legal audit on several NGO’s which entailed a comprehensive review of the statutes and regulations impacting them and preparing a compliance manual based on the findings.
- Acting for various companies in the re-structuring of ownership including the transfer and acquisition of shares, introduction and implementation of corporate governance within the companies’ governance structures.
